Professor Jonathan Pitches is a faculty member at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries at the University of Leeds, where he serves as Head of School (2020–onwards). His expertise spans Contemporary theatre and performance, Environmental Performance (Mountains), and Digital learning, with a focus on performer training methodologies and blended learning design.
- Education: PhD, MPhil, BA Hons.
His research includes international collaborations in performer training practices, AHRC-funded work on Performing Mountains, and co-editorship of key publications like the Journal of Theatre, Dance and Performance Training and the Routledge Companion to Vsevolod Meyerhold. As Deputy Director of the Stanislavsky Research Centre, he explores historical and global approaches to actor training.

He supervises PhD students in diverse formats (practice-led, PhD by publication) and leads initiatives in online learning design and environmental humanities.
