Jonathan Fox is an Adjunct Professor and Artist Faculty member in Percussion at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He serves as Principal Percussionist and Associate Principal Timpanist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra since 2000, with additional affiliations including the New York Philharmonic and Broadway's Miss Saigon. His performances and recordings, particularly of Zhou Long’s concerto ‘Da Qu,’ have garnered acclaim for virtuosity and artistry.
He holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School (1994) and a Bachelor’s from Boston University (summa cum laude, 1992), studying under prominent percussionists Roland Kohloff and Thomas Gauger. As Percussion Department Chair at YST, he combines orchestral performance with teaching, clinician work, and endorsements for Evans drum heads, Marimba One, Vic Firth, and Zildjian.
His performances, such as the Asian premiere of Thea Musgrave’s marimba concerto, reflect expertise in both traditional and contemporary repertoires. Additional roles include part-time instruction with the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and active participation in international music festivals and adjudications.
