Jonathan Alexander is Chancellor’s Professor of English and Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. He founded the Center for Excellence in Writing and Communication and currently directs the Humanities Core Program. His scholarly work bridges queer theory, rhetoric, and writing studies, focusing on how desire and activism intersect with writing practices.
His notable publications include Writing and Desire: Queer Ways of Composing (2023), which won the CCCC Exemplar Award, and co-edited Unruly Rhetorics: Protest, Persuasion, and Publics (2025), shortlisted for the CCCC Outstanding Book Award. He has also received honors for his contributions to communication and writing pedagogy.
