Romeo García

Romeo García is an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing & Rhetoric Studies at the University of Utah. His research focuses on decolonial and critical theories, Latinx writing and rhetoric, and unsettling archival practices. García has published extensively in leading journals such as College Composition and Communication, Rhetoric Society Quarterly, and Peitho.

García’s research explores decolonial rhetorics, settler colonialism, and cultural memory. His work challenges Western epistemic frameworks and advocates for epistemic pluriversality in rhetorical studies. Recent publications examine deep rhetoricity, shadow work, and pluriversal literacies.

His scholarly contributions include the co-edited volumes Rhetorics Elsewhere and Otherwise (2020), Unsettling Archival Research (2023), and Community Listening (2025). García’s research has been recognized with awards such as the CCCC Outstanding Book Award and the University of Utah’s Rising Star in the Humanities.
