Dr. Jonas Stephan is a Research Associate in the DFG-funded project Body dominance. Confessional Marriage Courts in the Hohenlohe Territories at Ruhr-Universität Bochum's Faculty of History. He specializes in Early Modern History, Legal History, and European Political Systems. Born in 1987 in Ahlen, he holds a PhD from the University of Münster (2019) and has taught at Dortmund's Gymnasium. His research explores confessionalized marriage courts, administrative processes, and imperial structures in early modern Europe. He co-authored publications on imperial circles and legal records, and produces the history podcast Deutschland 33/45. Current roles include managing a DFG project and contributing to historical public engagement.
