John Wolf is a Professor at Wayne State University, holding a master of fine arts in theatre with an emphasis on scenic and lighting design from the University of Alabama and a bachelor of science in theatre from Lindenwood University. He previously spent 20 years at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG), where he served as Professor of Lighting Design and Director of Production for the Department of Theatre.

Wolf has been an influential figure in the theatre community, serving on the City of Greensboro Performing Arts Center Task Force and as administrative vice president and chair of design for the Southeastern Theatre Conference. He also held board positions with the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Region IV and Stillwater Theatre in Raleigh, NC.
As a resident lighting designer for Triad Stage in Greensboro, Wolf designed 35 productions over 11 years and received the 2010 National Theatre Company Grant from the American Theatre Wing. His work has been showcased in prestigious venues including Lion Theatre, Soho Playhouse, Lincoln Center, and regional theaters such as the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival and Mill Mountain Theatre.
