John Wingard

John Wingard is a Professor of Philosophy and Dean of Humanities at Covenant College since 2007. His expertise lies in philosophical theology, metaphysics, and moral philosophy, with a focus on integrating Reformed theological commitments into academic discourse. He holds a PhD and MA from the University of Miami, an MDiv from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a BA from Belhaven College.

His research explores topics such as the metaphysics of free will, epistemic skepticism, and the theological implications of scientific theories like quantum physics. He actively engages with both historical and contemporary philosophical texts, emphasizing critical thinking and discipleship within the discipline.

Recent publications address themes like compatibilism, theism’s role in metaphysics, and the defense of the Principle of Sufficient Reason against scientific challenges.
