John R. Scully is the Charles Henderson Chaired Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and Applied Science. He serves as Co-Director of the Center for Electrochemical Science and Engineering and leads the Scully Research Group. His research focuses on understanding corrosion mechanisms, particularly hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion cracking, and localized corrosion in advanced alloys. Scully holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (1980-1987).
