John Orlock is a Professor in the Department of Theater and Dance at Case Western Reserve University. He joined the faculty in 1989 and served as Department Head for a decade, establishing the MFA program collaboration with the Cleveland Play House. He also served as Interim Director of the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities.
Education: MFA from Pennsylvania State University.
Research focuses on playwriting, theater innovation, and interdisciplinary performance. Notable works include Indulgences in the Louisville Harem (co-winner Humana Festival) and screenplay The End-of-Summer Guest. Awards include NEA/NEH fellowships and the Wittke Teaching Award.
Teaching includes a signature undergraduate seminar on Fly-Fishing: the Sport, the Metaphysics, and the Literature.
