John Murray

John Murray is an Assistant Professor in the Games and Interactive Media Program at the University of Central Florida. His research focuses on Generative AI, interactive narratives, reality media (augmented, virtual, and mixed reality), and computational media platforms.

He investigates both existing and future computational tools, with a particular emphasis on enhancing computational literacy for XR interactive narratives. His projects include the collaborative creative works Salt Immortal Sea and Shields Down, as well as the development of the cross-platform visual authoring tool RealityFlow.

He co-authored the books Flash: Building the Interactive Web (2014) and Adventure Games: Playing the Outsider (2020). Additionally, he runs an enrichment program introducing local high school students to virtual reality and its creation tools.
