John Moores serves as an Associate Professor in the Centre for Research in Earth and Space Science and Director of the Earth and Space Science program at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering. His work bridges engineering and planetary science with significant contributions to space exploration.
Dr. Moores earned his BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto followed by a Ph.D. in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona. This unique academic trajectory has positioned him at the intersection of engineering solutions and planetary research.
His research focuses on planetary science, astronomy, and advancing space technology development. With expertise spanning multiple disciplines within planetary science, Dr. Moores has contributed to our understanding of the solar system through both theoretical frameworks and practical mission applications. His work emphasizes instrumentation design and data interpretation methodologies for space exploration.
Dr. Moores has received prestigious recognition for his scholarly contributions to the space science community:
