Dr. John Mcdermott is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester and a Clinical Genetics Specialty Registrar. He holds the distinction of being the UK’s first Academic Clinical Fellow in Genomic Medicine (2016). His work at the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine (MCGM) focuses on integrating pharmacogenomics into clinical practice. He leads the world’s first trial of a bedside genetic test to prevent neonatal hearing loss (PALOH) and collaborates on initiatives like the DEVOTE programme.
