John Halpin

John Halpin is a Marine Image Analyst at the Scottish Marine Institute (SAMS UHI) with over four years of experience in biological image analysis. He previously worked at Cancer Research UK’s Beatson Institute, developing custom image analysis pipelines and deep learning methods. His current work leads the image analysis component of three major projects, utilizing deep learning and 3D modeling techniques.

• Education: PhD in Semiconductor Physics, two Postdocs in Advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy.
• Research Interests: Marine image analysis, deep learning, photogrammetry, and 3D modeling. His work intersects marine science and materials science, particularly in energy materials and semiconductor physics.
