John Dahl

John Dahl is an Associate Professor at the Swenson College of Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota Duluth. His research focuses on bacterial survival under stress, particularly in pathogenic mycobacteria and non-pathogenic myxobacteria. He teaches courses in Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, and Molecular Biology Laboratory.

• Education: B.S. from the University of Washington, Ph.D. from the University of Virginia

Research Interests: The Dahl lab investigates the stringent response in mycobacteria, a mechanism enabling prolonged survival within human hosts, and examines stress-resistant structures in myxobacteria spores. This work bridges microbial physiology and pathogenesis.

Advising: Mentored Minh Phuong Tran (M.S., Integrated Biosciences) in graduate research.
