John D. Fitzmorris III, Ph.D., is a full-time Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of New Orleans and the University of Holy Cross. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi (2016) and holds additional academic degrees from Loyola University (M.A., Religious Studies), University of New Orleans (M.A., History), and Louisiana State University (B.A.). His teaching focuses on U.S. History, Louisiana History, Irish History, the Vietnam War, and Civil War & Reconstruction. He moderates the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society at UNO and contributes to the Library of Congress Veterans Oral History Program.

Research Interests

He actively preserves veteran narratives through the Library of Congress Veterans Oral History Program, covering all modern wars.
