John C. Walsh is a Professor of History at Carleton University, specializing in Canadian History and Public History with a focus on space/place studies, governmentality, epistemology, and cartography. He holds an MA from the University of Ottawa and a PhD from the University of Guelph. Walsh has co-authored major works including Home, Work, and Play: Situating Canadian Social History (Oxford, 2015) and Placing Memory and Remembering Place in Canada (UBC Press, 2010). His recent public history projects include From the North to Ottawa’s Southway Inn and Outside the Frame.
Walsh has supervised over 20 graduate students in both traditional and non-traditional historical research formats.
