Dr John Byrom is an Associate Dean (MBA) at the University of Liverpool's Management School, where he joined in 2019. Previously, he held leadership roles such as Head of School of Management at the University of Tasmania and Acting Dean of Business. His research focuses on retail marketing, consumer behavior, and spatial marketing, with strong contributions to tourism management and place branding. He has authored over 30 journal articles and co-edited influential books like A Research Agenda for Place Branding (2021) and Case Studies in Food Retailing and Distribution (2019).
Professionally, he has served as External Examiner for institutions including Lancaster University (MSc Marketing) and Kingston University London (MBA). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Royal Geographical Society. His teaching spans undergraduate to executive education, with a focus on research methods and doctoral supervision, having guided 13 PhD/DBA candidates to completion.
