John Branch

John Branch is a Clinical Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He also serves as Associate Director of the Center for Russian, East European, & Eurasian Studies and holds a Research Fellowship at the William Davidson Institute. His roles include Co-Director of the Yaffe Digital Media Initiative and Adjunct/Visiting Professorships at over 40 global institutions, including Homerton College (University of Cambridge) and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. Branch holds multiple advanced degrees: DProf (Middlesex University, 2020), EdD (University of Michigan, 2017), PhD (University of Cambridge, 2004), MAEd (Washington University, 2003), MBA (University of New Brunswick, 1993), and BEngSc (University of Western Ontario, 1990).

His research focuses on digital marketing, transnational higher education, cross-cultural business strategies, and pedagogical innovation. Notable contributions include co-editing Contemporary Issues in Digital Marketing (2018) and leading projects on post-conflict education recovery in Azerbaijan. He has advised on EU-funded development initiatives in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, and his work explores globalization’s impact on education and business.

Branch’s teaching spans marketing, international business, and digital media across undergraduate, MBA, and executive programs. He pioneered virtual exchange programs and integrates global case studies into curricula. His scholarly awards include a Golden Apple Award nomination for teaching excellence. He has authored/co-authored over 30 books and 50+ articles, with recent emphases on virtual pedagogy, cultural brand extension, and transnational educational policies.
