John Bowditch

John Bowditch is Associate Professor and Director of the GRID Lab at Ohio University's Scripps College of Communication. He specializes in immersive media development, game design, and media entrepreneurship. His leadership has secured over $7.5M in research funding from NIH, DHS, and DoE. Co-author of The Power of Virtual Reality Cinema for Healthcare Training (2021), he develops VR applications for medical education and first responder training.

Research explores location-based VR systems and trauma simulation methodologies. Recent projects include FBI-recognized innovations in emergency response training.

Publications demonstrate applied VR solutions in healthcare and education contexts, with emphasis on accessibility and pedagogical effectiveness. Course instruction includes VR Development Capstone and Digital Game Design.
