John Betz

John Betz is Associate Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in Christian metaphysics and theological ontology. His research examines German philosophical and theological traditions from the 18th to 20th centuries, with particular focus on Counter-Enlightenment thinker Johann Georg Hamann and Catholic metaphysician Erich Przywara.

Current scholarly projects include a monograph on Przywara's contributions to analogical metaphysics and a collection exploring contemporary applications of analogical thought. Dr. Betz's work engages theological ontology, phenomenology, and the intersection of philosophy and theology in modern thought.
