John A. Lewis

John A. Lewis is a Professor and Advising Center Director at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), affiliated with the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department within the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs. He has been part of the IUP faculty since 2007 and holds a PhD in Criminology (IUP, 2006), MA in Criminology (IUP, 2002), and BS in Workforce Education and Development (Southern Illinois University, 1997).

His research focuses on criminological theory, policing strategies, terrorism, and legal impact studies, particularly examining deterrence theory and underage alcohol use. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Correctional Education, Criminal Justice Studies, and Police Quarterly.

• Roles: Formerly served as department assistant chair, interim director of the Criminal Justice Training Center, and co-chair of the University-Wide Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.
• Advising and Engagement: Co-director for Advising and Student Engagement at the Center of Teaching Excellence.

He oversees the Criminology Advising Center and contributes to institutional initiatives through his leadership roles in academic governance and student support.
