Johanna Funk

Dr. Johanna Funk is a Lecturer in Education and Digital Cultural Knowledges at Charles Darwin University (CDU), located in the College of Indigenous Futures, Education, and Arts. Her career began in inner-city London schools, where she focused on supporting marginalized learners within institutional systems. Her research emphasizes how educational systems can acknowledge diversity to enhance participation in economic, social, and educational contexts. She completed a PhD in Open Educational Practices with a focus on Indigenous workforce development, informed by international experiences and life in remote northern Australia.

Her work integrates curriculum design, learning systems innovation, and digital tools to foster inclusive education. She is affiliated with the STEM Education Research Group and contributes to advancing educational equity through open practices and culturally responsive pedagogy.
