Johan Boberg

Johan Boberg is a Senior Lecturer at Uppsala University’s Department of Education, Research Coordinator at the Department of History of Science and Ideas, and an active researcher within the Department of Philosophy (Theoretical Philosophy; Emeriti and Otherwise Active). His work spans higher education governance, organizational theory, and the philosophy of science, with a focus on collegiality, bureaucracy, and democratic structures in academic institutions.

Over the past decade, Boberg has published extensively on the decollegialization of Swedish universities, educational policy, and epistemological frameworks in Kantian philosophy. His research highlights the tension between bureaucratic expansion and democratic governance in higher education.

His recent 2024 publications include analyses of increased state control and bureaucratic effects on Swedish universities, while his 2023–2022 works focus on mapping educational research and organizational shifts in higher education. Notable earlier works include a 2020 monograph on Kantian critical philosophy and its implications for scientific subjectivity.
