Joellen Maples is Associate Professor and Dean of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher University. Her research explores critical literacy, culturally responsive teaching, and young adult literature. She developed online teacher training modules during the COVID-19 pandemic and created the Collaborative Education for Equity program to diversify the teaching workforce. Maples has led summer programs with Rochester City School District serving over 300 students.
Education includes a B.A. in English, M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction, Ed.S. in English Education, and Ph.D. in English Education from the University of Tennessee.
