Joe Stretch is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing (Fiction) at the Manchester Writing School, Manchester Metropolitan University, serving as Pathway Leader for the BA English and Creative Writing programme since 2015. He is an award-winning author and filmmaker with notable works including the novel The Adult (Somerset Maugham Award, 2012) and the audiobook Don’t Let Go (Cannes Lion Award, 2011). His debut film Wizard’s Way garnered multiple awards and was optioned for a remake by Jack Black. Additionally, he is a musician with the band Performance, whose work has featured in global media.
His research and creative interests focus on narrative innovation in fiction, interactive storytelling, and the intersection of literature with film and audio. He teaches advanced creative writing courses at postgraduate level, including Novel Workshop, MA Creative Project, and MFA Manuscript.
