Joanna Marcinkowska

Joanna Marcinkowska (born November 9, 1982, in Poznań) serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Arts in Poznań, affiliated with the 11th Painting Studio under Professor Marek Przybył. She maintains active teaching duties through the 11th Painting Workshop and holds office hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Her educational foundation includes:

• Diploma with distinction in Art Education (2007) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań
• Diploma with distinction in Easel Painting (2008) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań
• Doctorate in Visual Arts (2012)

Research interests center on painting as emotional and social expression, exploring juxtaposition between private domestic realms (family, home, studio) and public spaces through contrast-driven composition. She emphasizes color as a dual force for emotional conveyance and structural organization, employing raw tube application alongside meticulous palette work to achieve pictorial integrity while highlighting uncertainty and understatement in contemporary experiences.

She co-organized a Ministry of Science and Higher Education-distinguished research project on aesthetic/social aspects of painting and comparative art education systems in Poland/Spain, later recommended by the European Commission. Marcinkowska's advising and artistic output include conducting the 11th Painting Workshop and participation in international projects like Zoom in Brno (2018).
