Joanie Hazelton

Joanie Hazelton is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Ferris State University, where she serves as the Northern Region MSW and BSW Internship Field Director and advisor. She teaches across both the BSW and MSW programs, covering courses like Interviewing, Child Welfare, and Advanced Field Practicum.

• Education: MSW from Grand Valley State University, BSW from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
• Licensed Clinical and Macro Social Worker with Certified Trauma Professional credentials

Her research focuses on trauma, crisis management, and interprofessional collaboration in social work. She has developed university mental health taskforces and integrated secondary traumatic stress education into curricula.
