Joan Ribot Riutort

Dr. Joan Ribot Riutort is a Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He serves as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and leads research in the Nutrigenomics, Biomarkers, and Risk Assessment (NuBE) group within the Molecular Biology, Nutrition, and Biotechnology Laboratory (LBNB) at UIB. His affiliations also include the Center for Biomedical Research Network on the Pathophysiology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBEROBN), the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa), and the NutriGenomics Organization (NuGO).

His research focuses on Molecular Nutrition and Molecular Pathophysiology, investigating how food components regulate cellular and metabolic processes in relation to body weight control, obesity, cancer, and aging. He is actively involved in identifying and validating novel biomarkers for nutrition and health-related physiological functions, with over 50 publications in journals like Progress in Lipid Research, Diabetes, and European Journal of Cell Biology.
