Dr. Jing (Camille) Zhao is a Lecturer and DECRA Research Fellow at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering (MERE) at UNSW Sydney. She completed her Ph.D. in 2022 at the Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC), University of Queensland, and previously served as a Research Fellow at UQ's Sustainable Minerals Institute.

Her research focuses on sustainable mining, biohydrometallurgy, microbiology, and biotechnology. She leverages microbial processes to develop innovative solutions for the mining industry, with a strong commitment to environmental rehabilitation and ecological practice. Her work also extends to gas sensor development for underground mining and biological wastewater treatment.
Her research has been published in high-impact journals such as Environmental Science & Technology, Nature Communications, and Water Research, with recent articles addressing platform governance, digital labor dynamics, and cultural system reforms. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach to understanding institutional structures and technological impacts.
