Dr Jim Wiles is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Canterbury Christ Church University within the School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports. He serves on the Section steering group for Sport and Exercise Science degree pathways and holds Senior Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy.
His educational background includes:
- BA (1st class honours) in Movement Studies and Education from Canterbury Christ Church University
- MPhil in Exercise Physiology from Kent University
- PhD focused on isometric exercise effects on cardiovascular variables and blood pressure
Dr Wiles has developed a world-leading 15-year research profile in isometric exercise and blood pressure management, examining cardiovascular responses and caffeine's impact on high-intensity running performance. This work has secured multiple successful research grants.
