Jim Webb

Jim Webb is a Clinical Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Southern Methodist University (SMU), serving as Director of the Master of Science in Manufacturing Management and Doctor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering programs. He holds a Doctor of Management from the University of Maryland, an MBA from the University of Dallas, and a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

His research focuses on innovation strategy, manufacturing management, and defense technology. He has authored books like *Innovators Who Changed the World* and contributed to journals such as the *International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Management Research* and *Journal of Business Strategy*. His work explores topics including R&D team dynamics, strategic decision-making in product development, and overcoming assumptions in e-business.

Webb has held diverse roles: Special Forces Officer, strategy consultant at Deloitte and AT Kearney, VP-Engineering at a global manufacturing firm, and strategist for the U.S. Department of Defense. He currently serves on the U.S. Olympic Committee’s National Governing Body and manages a $6 billion pension fund.
