Jim Owens is a Professor of Media Communication at Asbury University's School of Communication Arts, where he also serves as Dean and Department Chair for Media, Journalism, and Digital Storytelling. With over 30 years of experience in television, film, and video production, he has taught in 11 countries and worked on major broadcasts including Monday Night Football, NCAA basketball, and the Indianapolis 500.

His research focuses on Media Communication, Television Production, and Production Design, including curating a collection of 400+ original film design paintings from 1930-1980 for educational digitization. He co-founded the International Olympic Committee's Broadcast Training Program, training over 10,000 students since 2000.
