Jill E. Family

Jill E. Family serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Research & Development and Professor of Law at Widener Law Commonwealth. She advises the Law and Government Institute, focusing on law-government intersections. Her expertise spans immigration law, administrative law, and civil procedure. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, MS and JD from Rutgers University.

Research interests include the interplay of government branches in immigration law, administrative law reform, and policy. Her scholarship has been published in U.S., British, and Spanish law journals. Awards include the Douglas E. Ray Excellence in Faculty Scholarship (2011, 2022) and 2010 Fellow of the National Administrative Law Judiciary Foundation.

Advising and Grants: She oversees the Law and Government Institute, collaborating with government officials, judges, and policymakers. Media engagements include frequent commentary on immigration policy for outlets like WPMT-TV, The Regulatory Review, and ABC27. She has presented at national and international conferences, including the American Association of Law Schools and the Homeland Security Law Institute.
