Jewel D. Stafford

Jewel D. Stafford serves as Teaching Professor and Assistant Dean of Practicum Engaged Scholarship at Washington University in St. Louis' Brown School. She concurrently holds leadership roles as Co-Director of Policy Education and Practice at the Center for Social Development and Director of the Racial Equity Fellowship Program within the Office of Field Education.

Her educational background includes an MSW from Stony Brook University. With over 15 years of community-based research experience, Stafford focuses on racial/ethnic health disparities among medically underserved Black populations through reproductive health initiatives and community-engaged methodologies.

Stafford's scholarly work examines intersections of racial equity and human rights in social work education, as evidenced by her 2021 publication analyzing field agency practices. Her research consistently emphasizes culturally appropriate evaluation frameworks developed through community partnerships.

As Assistant Dean, she oversees Office of Practicum Education pedagogy development and assessment while directing the Racial Equity Fellowship Program. Previously, she coordinated NIH-funded public health research projects and currently serves on the Board of Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, demonstrating sustained commitment to health equity advocacy.
