Jet Tigchelaar

Jet Tigchelaar serves as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Constitutional, Administrative Law and Legal Theory within Utrecht University's Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. She contributes to the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF) and participates in the Dynamics of Youth research programme.

• Expertise: Gender and Law, Identity and Law, Legal Philosophy
• International Work: Strengthened legal education in Rwanda and Uganda (2007-2012)

Her research investigates sex/gender registration (non-binary identities), multiculturalism and law (burqa bans, circumcision debates), and professional ethics (special issue co-edited in 2021). Recent articles examine non-binary legal recognition and adolescent mental health disparities.

She teaches courses in Legal Theory, Law & Identity, and Legal Ethics, while coordinating ethical skills modules for inclusive society. Activities include organizing VSR Annual Congress (2024) and chairing Dynamics of Youth initiatives.
