Jessica Veevers is a Sessional Instructor at Mount Royal University and Alberta University of the Arts. She holds a PhD in Art History from Concordia University, supported by the Fonds de Recherche Société et Culture du Quebec (FRQSC). Her work bridges art history, curation, and art conservation, with a focus on contemporary art and its material practices.
Research interests include the materiality of art-making, the plastics industry's influence on 20th-century artistic practices, and historiography. She has curated impactful exhibitions such as Negotiating Diaspora and Deep Pop: The Evolution of a Movement, emphasizing global and local artistic dialogues.
Awarded the Michel de la Chenelière Art and Culture Award for her doctoral research, Veevers explores how art-making methodologies intersect with collection practices and audience reception. Her career spans gallery director roles, representing over 65 international artists, and teaching on Canadian abstract art and art conservation theory.
