Jessica Elliott

Jessica Elliott is a Lecturer (Clinical Education) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Southern Queensland, where she also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Charleville cohort. She is currently pursuing a PhD focused on understanding how extended rural clinical placements influence undergraduate nurses' decisions to pursue rural employment. Her qualifications include a BNurs (USQ), MNursPracSt (QUT), MScRsch (USQ), and certifications in Emergency Nursing, Health Management, and Immunisation.

Research Interests: Jessie’s work centers on rural nursing workforce dynamics, knowledge implementation in clinical practice, digital hospital integration, immunisation practices, and enhancing graduate nurse employability. She actively explores how socialisation during rural placements impacts career choices.

Clinical & Professional Background: With over 19 years of clinical experience, Jessie has held roles such as Nurse Educator, Clinical Nurse Consultant, and After Hours Nurse Unit Manager in Ipswich hospitals. She maintains active practice in Emergency Nursing, Infection Prevention, and Intensive Care.

Education & Supervision: Jessie has been involved in tertiary nursing education since 2019, supervising multiple Masters students. She emphasizes bridging clinical practice with academic learning, particularly in fostering rural workforce retention strategies.
