Jerry Troutman

Jerry Troutman is a Professor and M.S. Graduate Program Director in Chemistry at UNC Charlotte. His research investigates bacterial polysaccharide biosynthesis, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and bio-based nanomaterials, with NIH-funded projects on microbial glycobiology and therapeutic development.

Troutman's lab develops enzymatic probes to study polysaccharide functions and inhibitors targeting undecaprenyl pyrophosphate synthase. Recent publications explore glycan engineering and bacterial envelope dynamics.
