Jenny Rintoul is a Senior Lecturer in Visual Culture at the School of Arts, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), within the College of Arts, Technology and Environment (CATE). She teaches visual culture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervises doctoral researchers.
Her research expertise spans two major strands: the iconography of the Nursing Virgin in relation to maternal femininities, and pedagogical approaches in art and design education. She explores the integration of Critical and Contextual Studies with studio practice, embodied knowledges, and the role of intuition in creative education.
Jenny co-leads the Visual and Material Practices Research Group (VAMP) and is a member of the WoW (Ways of Writing in art & design) research network. She contributes significantly to academic service as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, editorial board member for the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice, and peer reviewer for international journals.
