Professor Jennifer Logue is an Honorary Professor in Metabolic Medicine at Lancaster University's Lancaster Medical School and Senior Medical Director for Early Clinical Development (Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism) at AstraZeneca. Her academic research focuses on obesity-related metabolic diseases, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary interventions and pragmatic clinical trials using health record data. She previously served as Associate Dean for Research at Lancaster University and Deputy Clinical Director of the NIHR North West Coast Clinical Research Network.
Prof. Logue holds a MD from the University of Glasgow's Department of Surgery and a Chief Scientist Office/NHS Education Scotland Clinician Scientist Intermediate Fellowship (2011). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (Chemical Pathology) and completed her CCT in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine in 2012. Her career includes leadership roles in the Academy of Medical Sciences FLIER programme and memberships in over 20 national/international committees, including the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network and World Obesity Federation.
Her research priorities include addressing health inequalities through cross-sector collaborations, evaluating weight management programs, and advancing clinical guidelines for bariatric surgery. Notable projects include the SCOTS cohort study, LENS retinopathy trial, and the NIHR-funded BE:COME network meta-analysis. She has also led NHS-industry partnerships like the Small Talk Big Difference initiative.
Prof. Logue is a vocal advocate for obesity care access, appearing frequently in media discussions on diet, cardiovascular health, and type 2 diabetes. She actively mentors PhD students interested in obesity intervention research and routine healthcare data utilization.
