Jennifer Cuthbert, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. She holds dual fellowship training in hepatology and immunology from UT Southwestern, following medical education at the University of Sydney (honors graduate) and residency at Sydney Hospital. Dr. Cuthbert joined UT Southwestern faculty in 1981 and served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education for seven years before becoming President of the UT System’s Kenneth I. Shine, M.D. Academy for Health Science Education in 2014.
Her research focuses on liver diseases including cirrhosis, hepatitis, and their clinical management. Over 30 years of academic leadership, she has published extensively on topics such as alcoholic hepatitis treatment, hepatic encephalopathy therapies, and long-term outcomes of hepatitis C treatment.
