Dr. Jeffrey Stevenson Murer is a Senior Lecturer in Collective Violence at the School of International Relations, University of St Andrews. His research focuses on psychological processes in identity formation, particularly in conflict and collective violence contexts. He explores anxiety as a political motivator, with studies on anti-Semitism in post-Communist Europe, Yugoslav wars, and Northern Caucasus conflicts. Current work examines identity formation in Western European immigrant communities. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
