Jeffrey Perry

Dr. Jeffrey Perry is an Associate Professor in the Division of Social Sciences at Tusculum University, where he has taught since 2017. He holds a doctorate in History from Purdue University and teaches undergraduate courses in U.S. History, World History, Religion in American History, and specialized topics including the Civil War/Reconstruction and Progressive America.

Research Focus: Dr. Perry's scholarship examines legal-religious intersections in American history and presidential memory. His current book project analyzes Andrew Johnson's historical legacy, building on his 2022 Johns Hopkins University Press publication about church discipline and civil authority in frontier Kentucky.

Funding Recognition: His research has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Appalachian College Association, University of Virginia, and Kentucky Historical Society.
