Jeffrey L. Collett, Jr.

Jeffrey L. Collett, Jr. is a Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University (CSU), affiliated with the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Caltech and has served as Department Head from 2011–2022. His research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, particularly pollution processing by clouds, aerosol chemistry, and air quality impacts of unconventional energy and wildfires. Collett leads a lab with advanced instrumentation for field and lab studies, supported by grants from NSF, EPA, USDA, and others.

His career spans postdoctoral research at ETH-Zurich, teaching awards, and leadership roles in professional societies like the American Meteorological Society. Recent work includes characterizing oil and gas emissions, ammonia deposition trends, and international air quality in China/Korea. The Collett Group operates mobile labs and collaborates globally, with over 40 field sites across continents.
