Jeffrey Gagnon

Jeffrey Gagnon serves as Associate Professor in Laurentian University's School of Natural Sciences since 2014, teaching microbiology, cell biology, and endocrinology courses from his Science Building office (S719).

His academic credentials include:

Research centers on gastrointestinal hormone roles in health/disease, specifically gut microbiome impacts on metabolic regulation. His lab investigates hormone dysregulation, Type 2 Diabetes mechanisms, metabolic inflammation, and gastrointestinal microbes through mammalian cell culture and genetic/diet-induced rodent obesity models.

Accredited to supervise Biology MSc and Biomolecular Sciences PhD students, he recruits high-achieving candidates (80+ average) with research experience for thesis projects.

His laboratory focuses on gut endocrine system regulation of energy metabolism using primary cell cultures and specialized rodent models to examine weight-gain pathophysiology.
