Jeffrey Conte's research focuses on core areas of Industrial-Organizational Psychology. His work examines the relationships between personality, cognitive ability, and workplace outcomes using person-centered methodologies. A significant strand of his research investigates temporal issues such as polychronicity, time urgency, and the Type A Behavior Pattern. He also studies personnel assessment and selection, psychological testing, and safety factors in the workplace. His research lab has received funding from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Qualcomm, and the U.S. Army Research Institute.
His most recent publications and his widely adopted textbook, Work in the 21st Century, reflect a consistent trend in applying advanced statistical methods, like latent profile analysis, to understand how configurations of individual differences (e.g., personality types, cognitive ability profiles) predict performance, attrition, and engagement.
