Jeffrey Behrens

Jeffrey Behrens is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Long Island University, affiliated with the School of Performing Arts. He holds a B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University and both a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School.

His primary areas of expertise include Voice Performance, Opera, and Concert Singing. With a distinguished career as a professional operatic tenor, Mr. Behrens has performed leading roles across major international stages, bringing extensive practical experience to his academic role. His performance repertoire spans classical operas by Puccini, Mozart, Stravinsky, and Offenbach, among others.

Mr. Behrens has been recognized with awards from prestigious institutions including the Lotte Lenya Competition, Opera Index, and the Gerda Lissner Foundation. He was also a third-place winner in the Middle Atlantic region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

Throughout his career, he has performed with renowned companies such as The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Santa Fe Opera, Utah Opera, and Opera Omaha. His concert performances include major works like Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Requiem, and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
