About
Jeff Wereszczynski is a Professor of Physics and Biology at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Lewis College of Science and Letters. His research bridges computational biophysics, molecular biology, and structural biology to study fundamental biological processes at the atomic scale.
Research Interests
The Wereszczynski Lab investigates chromatin dynamics, bacterial virulence mechanisms, and advanced computational methods for structural biology. Key areas include:
- Epigenetic regulation through linker histone variants
- Antimicrobial peptide interactions with bacterial membranes
- Bayesian analysis of molecular dynamics simulations
- Thermodynamic modeling of nucleosome stability
Scientific Awards
- NSF CAREER Award (2016)
- NIH Career Transition Award (K22, 2013-2015)
- NIH Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA)
