Dr. Jeff Tamplin is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Northern Iowa, College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the ecology, conservation, and genetics of freshwater turtles, particularly the endangered wood turtle in Iowa.
Research interests include spatial ecology, thermal biology, population genetics, and habitat modeling. Dr. Tamplin uses radio telemetry to study turtle movement patterns and habitat selection, and his work has contributed to organoid technology development for studying turtle adaptations. He teaches courses in evolution, ecology, herpetology, and vertebrate zoology.
