Jeff King is a Professor of Law at University College London (UCL) since 2016 and Deputy Director of the Global Centre for Democratic Constitutionalism. He holds editorial roles at Public Law and the Federal Law Review, and is a member of the International Society of Public Law (ICON Society). Previously, he was a Fellow and Tutor at Balliol College, Oxford (2008–2011), and practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York (2003–2004). His work focuses on public law, political theory, and comparative governance.
Research interests include the intersection of law and society, constitutional democracy, and the history of legal philosophy. His book Judging Social Rights (2012) won the 2014 Peter Birks Prize. He leads the Rule of Law Restoration Project at the Bingham Centre and co-led the Lex-Atlas: Covid-19 project, producing a global analysis of legal responses to the pandemic.
Awards include the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Law (2017). He has held visiting roles at Oxford, Toronto, Berlin, and others. Languages: Fluent in French, Spanish, and German. Engaged with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Health) and 16 (Justice).
